Summer's here and that means that clients will be showing more skin than any other time of year. From bikinis and backless dresses to open-toed shoes, the areas of the body that have been hibernating all winter will be getting their day in the sun. That's why it's imperative for spas to remind clients that skin care goes beyond facials and body scrubs. The back, fanny and feet need some extra tender loving care too!
Here are three great treatments to give your clients a glow all the way down to their toes.
1The Back
For a time, back facials were mostly popular with men who suffered from back acne. Today, more women are realizing that their back is just as important as their face when it comes to showing off glowing, radiant skin for the summer."Clients are realizing that to look great in their bikini or backless dress, they have to pay attention to the whole body,” says Chrysse Preonas, spa director at the Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Denver, Colo. “When you get a back facial, you're revealing that glow and radiance that everyone wants. And, whether you're getting a tan from the sun or from a spray tan, when you exfoliate your entire body, including the back, your tan is more even and stays on longer."
The Four Seasons’ Back Facial Bliss (50 minutes, $150) begins with a creamy alpine cleanser followed by a refining exfoliation with rhassoul clay and fine silica crystals. A calming mist and balancing mask comes next, followed by a warm herb-infused oil that's drizzled up and down the spine to prepare it for an energy-balancing massage. It also features a honey and algae gel base with Chinese wild pearl powder.
"The rhassoul clay helps to pull out impurities and it's great for hyperpigmentation. We use rosemary in the oil for its detoxifying properties, and the honey and algae gel is for softening and detoxification. The wild pearl powder helps to lighten and brighten the skin," says Preonas.
