Is the demand for Ayurvedic treatments growing? If yes, why?
In 2015, Ayurveda was named as one of the top spa trends. I think there are more serious spas in Europe adopting Ayurvedic approaches and more treatment centers in India becoming more resort-like and westerner friendly. Here in the U.S., I feel gratified that Ayurveda has gone beyond being a fad and is now represented in advanced level esthetic textbooks and is part of the standard curriculum in some states. I believe people are desperately searching for simple things they can do everyday that make a difference in their energy level and ability to multitask.
Ayurveda has some great treatments and answers that do just that.
How have your methodologies and techniques evolved over the years?
The treatment methods I teach are mostly very traditional, so I try to honor that. When I started, both products and equipment were hard to find and now there are many more good choices. One huge change is how oil has transitioned from the biggest no-no in skin care to the most hip ingredient. Organic and natural approaches have become well accepted as a sane choice for our health and that of our planet.
